    Icelandic Langspil

Notify me when this product is available:

The Langspil body "bulges" to the opposite side of the player around the soundhole and the bottom of the instrument is flat, enabling it to stand upright. The headstock is wider than the typical mountain dulcimer, is slotted, and has three tuning pegs. It has a thin diatonic fretboard mounted on the top. The Langspil is sometimes played with a bow, rather than by plucking or strumming. The standard woods used are black walnut for the body, western red cedar for the top, and black walnut for the "wheel" rosette. Standard without a 6-1/2 fret. 2-3/4" x 7" x 34-1/2"
